The Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation that will allow grocery stores and convenience stores that meet the definition of a retail food store to sell wine on their premises beginning on July 1, 2016. Along with the passage of this legislation, the General Assembly has required that all employees of retail food store licensees and retail package store licensees be trained in the responsible service of alcohol. Certain topics must be taught to be in compliance. If you are a grocery store, a convenience store or a retail package store seeking training as under the Responsible Wine Vendor Program, Elks Law will soon be able to provide you the training necessary for your employees to be certified and in compliance with the statutes, rules and regulations. Please contact Elks Law to schedule your training session or if you have any questions regarding employee training.
